RICK A. LA TRACE is a member of the firm who practices in the firm’s Immigration, Commercial Litigation, and Real Estate groups. Mr. La Trace is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has extensive experience counseling businesses through the complicated process of hiring workers from foreign countries. Mr. La Trace has assisted clients in the following visa categories: B-1/B-2, E-1/E-2, F-1, H1-B, J, K, and L-1/L1A. Mr. La Trace also counsels individuals in the areas of family and employment based immigration.
Mr. La Trace regularly advises clients regarding immigration employment compliance (e.g., Form I-9, E-Verify, IMAGE Program, SSA No-Match Letters) and assists them in designing and implementing their corporate compliance programs. He has drafted compliance programs, applicable policies and procedures, and developed and conducted internal training programs and audits. In addition, he has represented clients under federal investigation or audit for alleged Form I-9 violations and employment of individuals not authorized to work in the United States.
Mr. La Trace also represents individuals and businesses in commercial litigation matters in the state and federal courts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, where he is licensed. Representative matters include: business organization, construction law, contract, creditor rights, eminent domain, equity, foreclosure, mental health, real estate, and torts.
Mr. La Trace represents a diverse group of clients, including banks, finance companies, lenders, hospitals, insurance companies, landlords, mental health providers, big-box retailers, oil companies, ship builders, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Mr. La Trace graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Saint Louis University in 1997.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. La Trace served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michael T. Mason, United States Magistrate Judge, Northern District of Illinois, and as an extern at the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Illinois.
