EEOC More Than Doubles Fine for Failure to Post Required EEO Notices

Effective April 18, 2014, employers will face a fine of $210 for each instance of failing to post notices required by the EEOC advising employees of their rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the ADA, and the Genetic Information Non-discrimination Act. The current penalty is $110 per instance. The posters must be displayed by employers with 15 or more employees in a prominent and accessible place where notices to employees and applicants are currently maintained. Employers should review their bulletin boards and make sure that the most current versions of the EEO Poster are displayed and are not obscured or altered. To speak with an attorney on this or any other topic, call Johnstone Adams at (251) 432-7682 or toll-free at (866) 732-3267, or visit our Website.
