Tech Bill Aims to Increase H-1B Cap

A bipartisan bill was introduced this week in the Senate that was directed at increasing the availability of visas for workers in the technology sector. The Immigration Innovation Act would call for a near doubling of the available H-1B visas to 115,000, and in some cases, the number could swell to 195,000, depending on demand. While comprehensive immigration reform remains a long-shot, many hope that Democrats and Republicans can jointly address small pieces of the puzzle, such as the alleged shortage of skilled U.S. technology workers. Johnstone Adams will be monitoring this and any other proposed immigration legislation as they move forward through Congress. To discuss how your business may benefit from this legislation or H-1B visas, call Johnstone Adams at (251) 432-7682 or toll-free at (866) 732-3267, or visit our Website.
